Is Encore Markets legit?

Any time a new way to invest shows up, the first fair question is whether it is real or a scam. Here is a straight look at how Encore Markets is set up and how you can check it for yourself.

What Encore is

Encore Markets is building a marketplace where fans buy fractional shares of music catalogs, earn the streaming royalties those songs generate, and trade their shares on a regulated market. Artists raise money from their fans while keeping their masters and creative control.

Why it is legal

Offerings are structured under two SEC frameworks, Regulation Crowdfunding and Regulation A+, that let the general public invest in private securities through registered intermediaries with required disclosure. Every offering runs through a FINRA-registered broker-dealer or funding portal, and each listing comes with an offering document you can read before putting in a dollar. These are the same rails the fine-art platform Masterworks used to reach hundreds of thousands of investors.

This is not crypto

Encore uses traditional registered securities rather than tokens or NFTs. That distinction matters: several tokenized music platforms from the 2021 era shut down and left holders with assets tied to a dead app. Registered securities exist as legal ownership recorded through a transfer agent, so your rights do not depend on any single company staying online.

What to verify

Before investing in any offering, read the offering circular, confirm the broker-dealer of record is FINRA-registered, and understand the risk factors. Encore also ships an independent fair-value analysis with each catalog so you can see how the price was set.

The honest risks

Legitimate does not mean risk-free. Streaming income can decline, catalogs can be mispriced, and secondary liquidity is thinner than the public stock market. You can lose money, including your full investment. A real platform tells you this plainly, and so do we.
